The graceful Moselle, quiet and yet so close.

The river that shapes the landscape Moselle

Our little village of Wolf is nestled in the most beautiful of all the Moselle loops. From the nearby jetty, the White Fleet will take you to Traben-Trarbach and Bernkastel-Kues. Because the busy main road runs along the other side of the river, Wolf is spared from through traffic and is still easily accessible thanks to the bridge.

The world-famous New York Times newspaper named the Moselle one of the 52 places in the world that you must see. Have you ever heard of the Times? Whatever your answer, it doesn't matter. Because an American editorial team knows the Moselle quite well, and you shouldn't ignore that.

Why not just go with the flow by signing up for our tourist boats The ships will take you to many places, depending on your preference. A particularly beautiful tour is the route between Traben-Trarbach and Bernkastel-Kues. On the ship, you can enjoy an extraordinary view of both banks of the Moselle and relax completely.

Information about the Moselle

The Moselle stretches for 544 kilometres and was named by the Celts. They called the Moselle Mosea at that time. However, the Romans under Caesar conquered the area and incorporated it into the Roman province of Gallia Belgica. They used the Moselle as a shipping route and the riverbanks for viticulture, giving the Moselle its current appearance with steep vineyards. The Romans also Latinised the Celtic name to „Mosella“.  The Romans left their mark on this area in the form of flourishing viticulture and various monuments, which can still be seen today. These architectural works are particularly beautiful and can be found in Trier. Trier is the oldest city in Germany and was founded around 16 BC.

Tip: Why not take a detour to Trier and let yourself be transported back to Roman times in some of its locations? A guided tour of the Porta Nigra is highly recommended.
